INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE
Information Specialists are available to assist senior citizens and their families who require information, linkage to resources, and other available services. Information Specialists complete an assessment of need to determine what type of information, service, or resource would be appropriate for the senior citizen. Some of the resources and information available include housing assistance, nursing home lists, financial assistance, health benefits, energy assistance programs, Circuit Breaker, LIHEAP, Medicare, Medicaid, Senior Citizen Property Tax Assessment Freeze Exemption and Social Security. The Information Specialists assist in obtaining the needed information from a resource directory that is updated on a continual basis. Comprehensive directories are available of institutional, and community services and assistance is provided with accessing those services. Follow-up is made with the senior citizen to ensure the needed services were received. Anyone desiring information about services and benefits available to persons 60 and older may telephone (708) 547-5600.
